First time in the history, Pantone Color Institute choose a new colour as the Pantone Color of the year. That unique and special colour is Very Peri. 

PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri, a warm and friendly blue hue with a carefree confidence and joyful attitude, emboldens uninhibited expression and experimentation. This enthusiastic blue hue displays a dynamic presence and a whimsicality that lends itself to unpredictable colour harmonies and spontaneous colour statements.

The introduction of Very Peri marks the first time in the company’s 22-year history that they manufactured a new colour instead of choosing from their pre-existing archive.

“Creating a new colour for the first time in the history of our Pantone Color of the Year educational colour program reflects the global innovation and transformation taking place. As society continues to recognize colour as a critical form of communication, and a way to express and affect ideas and emotions and engage and connect, the complexity of this new red violet infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lay before us,” Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute said. 

Very Peri will now get added to the Pantone Fashion, Home, and Interiors Color System, the most widely used colour standards system for fashion, textile, home, and interior design. It’s a versatile tone, lending itself to adaptability in the design world that will also be accessible through the Pantone Connect digital colour platform along with a series of four palettes.
